'Pokémon Sun and Moon' News, Updates: Kanto X Alola Regional Rumble Starts Today
Another online competition has dawned on the Pokémon community, and the Kanto X Alola Regional Rumble is currently underway. With a wider scope of pokémon to choose from, it will be interesting to see what combinations players will cook up to compete against other trainers.
The Pokémon Global Link website has detailed everything that players have to know about the said competition. While it employs a familiar singles battles format, what's unique about it is the inclusion of Kanto region Pokémon, which can be transported one-way via Pokémon Bank from digital versions of "Pokémon Red," Pokémon Blue" and "Pokémon Yellow."
Similar to previous online competitions, the Kanto X Alola Regional Rumble participants are divided into Junior/Senior division and Masters division depending on birth year, leveling the playing field. Items are allowed to be held by Pokémon, with the ruling that they should not be wielding mega stones and duplicate items within a team of six.
As far as number of battles per day is concerned, each player is allowed to engage in 15 fights for every single day from March 17 through 19. When the limit of 15 per day is not reached, the excess rolls over to succeeding days, allowing a trainer to have a maximum of 45 battles during the duration of the competition.
As prize for joining the competition, players who battle at least three times will be able to get two mega stones, namely the Pidgeotite and Steelixite, ahead of other gamers. Knowing that mega evolution increases the stats and makes an advantageous change in nature, it is a definite must have for competitive players.
It can be recalled in Alola Friendly, the last single battles competition that allowed item use, that certain Pokémon such as Garchomp, Tapu Lele, Tapu Koko, Mimikyu and Cloyster were some of the fan favorites. With the addition of Kanto variants, it will be a skirmish filled with surprises.
