'Pokémon Sun and Moon' Players Reach Quadruple of the Goal for 3rd Global Mission; Doubles Competition Registration Starts on Feb. 16
There are those who say that things come in threes, whether good or bad. That apparently isn't the case with "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon," as the third global mission is a resounding victory, smashing the goal by accumulating quadruple of what is needed to be declared successful.
Less than a day before the "Trade Pokémon at the Global Trading System (GTS)" draws to a close, the community has already amassed a total of 3,910,100 trades, which is almost four times the required goal of a million GTS trades. With less than 100,000 before hitting the four-million mark, it is not an impossible feat to accomplish.
Because of the unprecedented feat, an announcement has been made over at the Pokémon Global Link (PGL) website stating that all players who participated for the duration of the mission will get at least 2,000 Festival Coins (FC). Pokémon Global Link (PGL) members, on the other hand, will receive double the amount, netting 4,000 FCs.

Moreover, since the second milestone of reaching two million trades have been reached, players who have registered via PGL will also receive a Friend Ball and five Rare Candies provided they have traded at least five times. The distribution of prizes will be announced at a later date once everything is settled.
With the global mission almost done, the next event players will be looking forward to is the 2017 International Challenge February, an online competition that will be pitting players against each other in a doubles battle. Registration starts from Feb. 16 to 23 and will be limited to 50,000 participants. The competition will be running from Feb. 24 to 26.
Considering that the format is different from previous online battles in which it followed Singles rules, this will be posing a new challenge to Pokémon trainers. If anything, players can expect to see Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele and Garchomp as staple pokémon, so those are threats that they should anticipate.
This will be a competition to watch out for since it will present Beedrillite and Mawilite to participants who take part in at least three battles. These are Mega Stones that are not in the main game originally, and so completionists will surely have their eyes set on this.
