'Pokémon Sun & Moon' News: Players Exceed 2nd Milestone for 3rd Global Mission; More Mega Stones Are Coming

"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" has introduced Global Missions for this generation of Pokémon games in which, unfortunately, the first two missions ended in failure. The third mission, however, is a resounding success even way before the coverage dates end.

Back in Jan. 31, the theme for the 3rd global mission, which is to trade Pokémon over at the Global Trade System (GTS), was posted on the Pokémon Global Link website. From that date until Feb. 14, players around the world need to work together to reach a total of one million trades, yet apparently that is a piece of cake.

As of this writing, "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" players have shown that this is an easy feat as there have been more than 2.5 million trades logged, which is more than double the goal, and the end date is still far away. This means that all participants get at least 2,000 Festival Coins (FC) and a Friend Ball, a type of Pokéball that makes Pokémon grow friendly instantly upon capture.

Players who have registered via Pokémon Global Link, however, have bigger perks than the rest. Instead of 2,000 FCs, they get 4,000 FCs and are eligible to get a Rare Candy provided they completed at least five GTS Trades.

There are a lot of reasons why the 3rd global mission turned out extremely well. First, doing GTS trades is considerably easier than performing Island Scans, which is time-locked. More importantly, then Pokémon Bank update opened the gates to trading Pokémon from earlier generations, which increased more interest in doing trades.

In related news, fans are wondering how they could get mega stones for non-Alola Pokémon now that they can transfer them from previous games. Players have been assured that they will be given as prize in the upcoming online competitions, with the Beedrillite and Mawilite up for grabs in the 2017 International Challenge February. Fans may start registering from Feb. 16 to Feb. 23 to join in the fun and get a hold of the mega stones.
