Portugal vs. Netherlands – Where to Watch Euro 2012 Online Live Stream
Euro 2012 will see the so-called Group of Death conclude Sunday as Portugal vs. Netherlands looks set to decide the fate of some of the tournament's best teams. The Portugal vs. Holland game will kick off at 2.45 p.m. EST and can be watched live on ESPN or alternatively fans can watch online through live streaming on ESPN 3 (details below).
This is the last chance saloon for Holland, having lost both of their opening games to Denmark and Germany, a win in today's game is essential for them to even stand a chance of making it through to the knock out stages of Euro 2012.
Holland were finalists at the World Cup in 2010, only losing out to Spain in a fiercely fought final, and qualified for Euro 2012 with more goals than any other team. But that success all seems a long time ago now, and the Netherlands have undoubtedly been the most disappointing big team in the tournament so far. Not many would have predicted Holland to be at the bottom of Group B after two games with zero points.
However, amazingly, statistically they can still qualify. They need to win by two clear goals to stand any chance of getting to the quarter finals – and then they are also only relying on the other group game that Germany beats Denmark.
No team has ever qualified for the knock out stages of the European Championships after losing their opening two matches, so Holland will have to make history today if they are going to pull off a shock. However, they may find inspiration in an unlikely place – Greece. Sitting at the bottom of Group A yesterday prior to kick off, Greece stunned Russia and unceremoniously dumped them out of the tournament, and took a quarter final spot in the process.
Portugal meanwhile are coming off from an exciting victory of Denmark, scoring in the finals minutes to win 3-2 and set themselves up in a good position to progress. Their qualification for the knock out stages is in their own hands, and Portugal must simply equal or better Denmark's result against Germany to progress in the tournament.
