'Power Rangers' reboot news: Release date pushed back

"Power Rangers" fans will be unhappy to hear that the release date for the reboot will be delayed several months.

It was announced by Lionsgate that they will begin filming on Jan. 18, 2016. With that, the series will not be able to make its original release date of July 22, 2016. The filming is expected to take place in Vancouver, Canada, under the code name "SHIRT."

The film will be directed by Dean Israelite. However, no news on the casting has been revealed yet. However, details of the character were shared by Heroic Hollywood. It was reported that the reboot will feature five teenagers named Jason (Red Ranger), Billy (Blue Ranger), Zack (Black Ranger), Kimberly (Pink Ranger), and Trini (Yellow Ranger). The movie will see the five characters getting ahold of five coins owned by the first Power Rangers. It was reported that they will explore an abandoned military base where they will discover the fossils of a T-Rex. That is where they will find the coins of the past Power Rangers. With that, the coins will soon merge onto the teenagers, giving them the responsibility of stopping Rita Repulsa.

However, details of the plot have not yet been confirmed. It was reported that the script will be written by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller.

Avid fans of the 90s series hold high expectations for the series, stating their concern on how exactly the movie will portray the same vibe of the TV series. It was mentioned that the tone of the movie could define the film and can determine the success of the upcoming reboot. The movie reboot is expected to portray a dynamic and colorful adventure, as opposed to taking a darker and more serious approach on the well-loved series.

Power Rangers the movie is speculated to premiere on Jan. 13, 2017.
