More than $200 million in jackpot prize can be won by potential lucky bettors for Saturday's Powerball draw after no one matched the winning combination last Wednesday.
Wednesday's Winning Combination
The winning numbers for the previous draw were 4-40-42-43-52 with the Powerball 17 and Powerplay 3x, the lottery's official website revealed. There were also no Match 5 winners though Powerball said more than 600,000 ticketholders took home a prize.
The jackpot prize for the previous draw was at $184 million with an equivalent cash value of $125.3 million. Since no one matched all numbers in any order, the jackpot for Saturday is now at $203 million or a $138.2 million cash value.
How to Play
Draw schedule for Powerball is every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Mechanics of the game explained that five white balls are taken from a batch of 69 balls while a red ball is drawn from 26 red balls.
A player can win the jackpot if all drawn numbers are matched, in no particular order. Getting the five white balls also guarantees a player $1 million. There is also Power Play add-on that allows players to increase non-jackpot prizes by as much as five times. The feature can be purchased for an additional $1, an amount separate from the $2 payment for each ticket of Powerball.
Payment Options
If a bettor wins the top prize, Powerball said that he or she could choose to be paid in 30 annual instalments with an immediate payment awarded to the winner. There is also the cash option where a player would only need to pay the tax and get the entire jackpot prize amount in cash.
For the instalment basis, the lottery game said that they would invest the remaining payment to increase the annual amount given to the winner by 5 percent each year. This was done to adjust to the cost of living of the winning player.
Winners Giving Back
Powerball has certainly extended help not only to the winners but also to the community they live in. A couple from Missouri recently spent a part of their $200 million winnings to have a new fire station constructed in their locality.
Mark Hill said that it was his way of paying back the fire volunteers for saving his father's life twice. The family won the Powerball jackpot last November 2012 and they have since taken in two adopted kids into their home, went on some vacations and bought cars.
