Powerball Drawing August 17, Wednesday Recap
The last Powerball drawing yielded no jackpot winners. No one was also able to match five white balls as well for the second prize of $1 million which would have been tripled if they opted for the PowerPlay option as well. According to the official Powerball website, there were more than 573,000 non-jackpot winners in the US. The overall non-jackpot prizes for Wednesday amounted to more than $4.5 million.

Non-jackpot Powerball Ticket Worth $150,000 Bought in PA
A non-jackpot Powerball ticket worth $150,000 was reportedly bought in a retailer in Pennsylvania, PR Newswire reported. The ticket matched four white balls and the red ball in the last drawing on Wednesday, August 17. The base prize is originally $50,000 but the winning ticket opted for the PowerPlay option which resulted in 3X and so it tripled to prize to $150,000. The retailer who issued the winning ticket will get a $500 bonus.

The ticketholder has not come forward yet but according to the lottery state rules, the winners in Pennsylvania only have a year to claim their prizes. The winners should also be identified therefore the tickets will be validated first and prizes claimed before announcements are made.

According to the outlet, it is recommended for ticket holders to sign the back of their Powerball ticket. If they should win the jackpot, they should call the main office of the lottery and file a claim first. Claims may be filed during office hours from Monday through Friday.

How to Play Powerball
The Powerball lottery is played by matching all five white balls and the red ball. Players must submit five different numbers ranging from 1 to 68 for the white balls and 1 number ranging from 1 to 25 for the red balls. Each Powerball ticket costs $2 and the PowerPlay option costs $1. Getting the PowerPlay add-on allows winners to increase their prizes but this is only applicable to non-jackpot winnings only.
