Powerball Drawing Aug. 20, Saturday Recap

The jackpot prize for the last Powerball drawing last week, Aug. 20, Saturday was $110-million. No one was able to win it. According to the official Powerball website, one winner was able to match all five white balls. The $1-million winning ticket was sold in Massachusetts, but they missed the chance to double it to $2-million by not playing the Power Play option.

There were a total of more than 620,000 winners in the last Powerball drawing. The total amount of non-jackpot prizes won last Saturday is more than $5.3 million.

Powerball Lotto - Nine Ways to Win

The Powerball drawing is done by picking 5 balls from a pit of white balls numbered 1 to 68. A red ball is also drawn out of a pit of balls numbered 1 to 25. There are over nine ways to win and the grand prize is won by matching all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The second prize, $1-million, is won by matching all five white balls. However, it can be multiplied by the Power Play option. The third prize is $50,000 and can be won by matching four white balls and the red Powerball. Like the second prize, it can be multiplied by playing the Power Play option.

The fourth and fifth prize is $100 and can be won by either matching four white balls or three white balls and the red Powerball. The sixth to ninth prizes are less than $10 each, but all non-jackpot prizes can be multiplied by the Power Play option.

The Powerball drawing is held twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday, at 11 p.m. ET. Each Powerball ticket costs $2 and the Power Play option costs an extra $1. The cut-off for the sales of Powerball tickets is at least an hour before the drawing.
