Powerball Winning Numbers for September 3; Live Results for the $170 Million Pot; Schedule of Draw
Update – September 3, 2016 – 11:00 p.m. ET: The winning numbers for Saturday's Powerball jackpot are 7, 39, 50, 59, 67 and the Powerball is 25. The Powerplay is 3x.
The Powerball grand prize for September 3 is now at $170 million, with a cash value of $118.1 million.
Nobody won the jackpot on August 31, Wednesday, which was worth $154 million. Powerball numbers are drawn twice a week, once on Wednesday and another draw on Saturday, at exactly 11 p.m. E.T.

The winning numbers for the August 31 draw were 5, 10, 24, 56, 61 and the Powerball is 12. The Powerplay was drawn at 2X, which means that if a bettor used the Powerplay option and had winning numbers, he or she will get twice the amount he or she won.
It was an unlucky day, at least for the big prizes, as nobody won the jackpot, the Match 5 winner's power play, and the Match 5 Winners. A total of $4,280, 267 in non-jackpot prizes were given away though. That is around 672,830 tickets.
The most number of winners come from California, with more than 70,000 winners overall. Florida is next, with more than 62,000 winners overall.
Twelve winners won the Match 4+ Powerball prize, winning $50,000 each. One person also won the Match 4 + Powerball, with a 2x Powerplay bonus. As a result, the winner got twice the regular amount, equivalent to $100,000.
How Powerball is Played
It's easy to Play Powerball. All you have to do is go to the nearest lottery retailers. The game is played in 44 states, and the retailers range from ticket kiosks, supermarkets, stores and convenience stores.
You have to select 5 white balls and one red ball (the power ball). The white balls are chosen from the 1-69 range, while the Powerball is selected from between the numbers 1 to 26. Tickets are worth $2 each. The Powerplay option is worth an additional dollar. Powerplay comes in five kinds of prize multipliers: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, and 10x.

There are 9 ways to win. First, if you match all white balls, in no particular order, and match the Powerball as well, then you will win the jackpot. The chance of winning the jackpot is 1 in 292 million.
The next highest prize is worth $1 million and is won by matching all 5 white balls. If you can match 4 white balls, you will get $50,000. The lowest prize is $4, if you match the Powerball only, or the Powerball and one white ball. Overall, the chances of winning in Powerball is 1 in 24.87.
