'Preacher' News: Trailer Revealed November 1
The small screen adaptation of the comic series "Preacher" already has a trailer and according to a report in International Business Times, it is slated to be shown for the first time on November 1, during the extra-long Episode 4 of "The Walking Dead" on the AMC network. The upcoming series is based on a comic book of the same title and follows the story of a small town preacher with special powers endowed on him by a half-demon, half-angel creature.
The comic book was written by Garth Ennis and drawn by artist Steve Dillon and published through DC Comic's Vertigo. According to ComicBookMovie.com, the series' official synopsis that was released indicated that the series may likely be following the comic's story line closely.
The synopsis reads: "'Preacher'… is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God."
Cooper is known for his work in "Agent Carter" while Negga played Raina in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Gilgun, on the other hand, worked mainly with British television shows. Other cast members include W. Earl Brown as Sheriff Hugo Root, Tom Brooke as the angel Fiore, Lucy Griffiths as Custer's right hand Emily Woodrow, Ian Colletti as Arseface and Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon.
The series is a co-production of Sony Pictures TV and AMC Studios with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg as producers. Rogen and Goldberg previously worked on "This Is the End," "Superbad" and "Neighbors." Sam Catlin of "Breaking Bad" is series showrunner.
"Preacher" does not have an airing date yet but it is expected to go on air sometime middle of 2016.
