Preorder 'StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void,' Get Beta Access to 'Whispers of Oblivion'
"StarCraft 2" and its coming final and major expansion called "Legacy of the Void" has yet to arrive, but Blizzard Entertainment, the game's publisher, is wanting to entice gamers to preorder by promising beta access to additional content for the game.
Blizzard recently announced that the final standalone expansion pack is now available for preorder and gamers who will buy the game now will get immediate access to a beta version of "Whispers of Oblivion," a three-mission prologue to the final expansion pack.
"Whispers of Oblivion" is supposed to bridge the storyline between the second expansion "Heart of the Swarm" and the final expansion "Legacy of the Void." This was earlier unveiled during the E3 2015. It is said to include new machines and warriors from the different races. It will also feature a mission which involves Dark Templar Zeratul, which is said to be a first.
The game publisher recommends that gamers make the preorder through Battle.net for immediate beta access, although purchasing through other retailers will also provide beta access. Three editions are available and are differently priced based on what format is being bought and what add-ons are provided.
The standard edition, priced at $39.99, is for either digital or retail format and includes access to a StarCraft lore character for "Heroes of the Storm" which is a MOBA by Blizzard. The digital deluxe edition, priced at $59.99, has add-ons for other Blizzard games, such as a "Heroes of the Storm Void Seeker," a "World of Warcraft" pet, among others. The most expensive edition, the collectors' edition, is priced at $79.99 and is only available to retail. It includes the same add-ons in the two other editions plus a StarCraft Field Manual Field Manual DVD and an audio CD of the game's soundtrack
The release date of "Legacy of the Void" has yet to be announced. The game went into an invite-only beta on March 31, 2015.
