"Pretty Little Liars" writer Joseph Dougherty recently sat down to talk with Wetpaint Entertainment about the upcoming episodes. He was particularly revealing about the relationship between Paige and Emily, also called Paily, as fans have come to refer to the couple.
"The Paily thing has been very unexpected on all levels, but very satisfying. Ever since I wrote the first kiss, it's always been exciting and unexpected between those two. And the actors are so exciting. It's such a pleasure to write those characters for them. When I want to feel self-important, I think it's important for that relationship to be in front of viewers to see what that's like," Dougherty said.

Dougherty added that he particularly enjoys writing for the on-screen couple.
In terms of the future of the Paige and Emily relationship, Dougherty thinks fans will like seeing it progress in the way the writers have planned.
"I think a lot of the Paily fans are going to be very satisfied by what we're doing," the writer said.
