'Pretty Little Liars' Season 7, Showrunner Teases Possible Romances 'The Beginning Of The End'

Following its climactic season 6 finale, "Pretty Little Liars" showrunner I. Marlene King has revealed that the show's next season will be "the beginning of the end" and that the biggest, baddest villain of all will bring the popular teen drama/thriller to a "satisfying" end.

Tuesday's episode of the Freeform mystery series saw the true identity of its new culprit "AD" being revealed, Hanna (Ashley Benson) getting into serious trouble, and several fan favorite couples coming together.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, King said that the season 7 villain will be the show's "biggest, baddest, and scariest" ever and that it could see the "homecoming" of some characters from previous seasons.

When asked whether or not Hanna, who was last seen being dragged across the floor, did, in fact, die in the season 6 finale, the "Pretty Little Liars" boss told THR, "You will find out in the first episode of season seven what her immediate fate is."

Speaking to Variety about the season 6 ender, King hinted at the possibility of Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) reuniting in a more permanent way in the next season. Citing the pair's steamy scene in that episode, King said, "That scene reminded me of the pilot how those two just cannot deny each other and these moments of high emotion."

Meanwhile, with "Pretty Little Liars" fans learning a lot more about Hanna and Caleb's (Tyler Blackburn) backstory in Tuesday's episode, could season 7 find the two reuniting? According to King, the two obviously still have a lot of unfinished business and the pairing has become "by far our most complicated relationship on the show."

The "Pretty Little Liars" creator also spoke about how things will unfold in season 7, telling THR,
"We have the beauty of one season — a relatively short amount of time — to complete this story, which allows us to go gangbusters in terms of pacing."

"It's going to unfold and unravel more quickly than we've ever told a story before," she added.

Freeform has not released the official premiere date for "Pretty Little Liars" season 7.
