Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Engagement Rumors: Prince Introduces Girlfriend to Queen Elizabeth II
It has been a while since Prince Harry started dating actress Meghan Markle, and many wonder if he will be the next to tie the knot in the royal family. Recently, it was reported that Markle had already formally met Queen Elizabeth II, fueling speculations that a wedding announcement was coming soon.
According to reports, Markle had a meeting with Prince Harry's royal grandmother last Sept. 3, shortly after the couple had their African vacation.
Although neither Prince Harry nor Markle has confirmed their engagement, previous rumors pointed out that the prince was planning to propose to the actress during their vacation in Africa. The place was special to Prince Harry since his mother, the late Princess Diana, had done plenty of relief projects there when she was still alive.
Speculations about Markle and Prince Harry possibly tying the knot soon started popping up again after the actress' rumored meeting with Queen Elizabeth II.
According to Us Weekly, the prince and Markle went to Birkhall in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, to visit his father, Prince Charles, and stepmom Camilla. A source told the publication that Prince Harry had two reasons in mind for planning the trip, the first being "he hadn't been up yet all summer," and the second one being to introduce his girlfriend to the queen.
The couple reportedly visited Queen Elizabeth II in her castle in Balmoral one day after their arrival at Prince Charles' place in Birkhall. According to the source, the said meeting might just be the first of Markle's many future encounters with the queen.
"It'll no doubt be the first of many encounters," said the source, who later on added: "The entire weekend was a success. He was able to introduce someone he loves to someone he cares for deeply."
The public has yet to hear any official word from the couple regarding their rumored engagement.
