Prince William, Kate Moving Back to Wales? Royals Eager to Go Home
Are Prince William and Duchess Kate planning to move back to Wales? New reports state that William wants to return to the countryside where he enjoyed his privacy instead of living in the city, where he and Kate are in the public eye.
"After the relative freedom of living pretty undisturbed as a couple in Wales, William dislikes the proximity of so many neighbors at Kensington Palace," Prince William's private secretary Miguel Head told the Daily Mail. "A bolthole in a place they know so well has definite appeal."
The couple is currently preparing to move into the completely renovated Kensington Palace apartment once occupied by Princess Margaret. Kate oversaw all the renovations and had the apartment decorated more to her liking while still maintaining a regal appearance. Yet while the couple may be looking forward to moving into the apartment, there will always be a part of them that has a fondness for their first home in Anglesey, Wales.

The two lived there in relative seclusion and were able to enjoy life as everyday citizens instead of royals. While William served in the Royal Air Force, Kate enjoyed her daily jogs, shopping in the town, and living the simple life. The couple was sad to leave the area after spending the first years of married life there.
"Rumors are flying about the possibility of the Cambridges acquiring a home on the island," royal biographer Michael Thornton said. "I have heard they are interested in buying the farmhouse [where they lived]. Royals rarely buy properties, but they could rent again."
"I know that I speak for Catherine when I say that I have never in my life known somewhere as beautiful and as welcoming as Anglesey," William said in a farewell speech. "I know that both of us will miss it terribly when my tour of duty comes to an end next month and we have to move elsewhere. This island has been our first home together, and it will always be an immensely special place for us."
