Prince William's New Ride Worth $407,000: Features WiFi Connection and Bulletproof Glass
Prince William and Duchess Kate reportedly have a new ride … one that's worth an estimated $407,000. The car is bulletproof and specially customized for the royal family.
"The Bentley is being leased by the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry for official engagements, which is no different to any other member of the Royal family," a Kensington Palace spokesperson explained.
The car is quite special, given that it has bulletproof glass, a WiFi connection, a champagne cooler, and quilted seats that not only heat up but have a massage function as well. Pictures show that the car also has screens for either TV or computer usage. The Flying Spur, as this edition of the Bentley is known, can reach speeds of 200 miles per hour but only gets 19 miles to the gallon, making it rather uneconomical.

William and Kate have already used the vehicle, taking it to a reception at the Natural History Museum in London. The Royal family has a warrant from the Queen and Prince of Wales, and in 2002 gifted the Queen with her very own limousine to mark her Golden Jubilee. It's likely that there is a deal between the Royals and Bentley, and that the Cambridges were able to get a good deal. However, no such information is available to the public.
The Royals were one of the first people to have The Flying Spur a full six months before it was available to the public. It was outfitted for them, though, and specially padded and equipped with a loudspeaker to deter anyone from getting too close to the vehicle.
How is the car being paid for? Reports state that the Duchess of Cornwall is financing the vehicle's costs, which takes care of the finances and official work for Prince Charles and his family. This includes another vehicle, a Jaguar, for the younger Royals, should the need arise.
