'Prison Break' Season 5 Air Date, Spoilers: 30-Minute Featurette Reveals More Behind-the-Scenes Details About Upcoming Revival Season

It's been more than a decade since Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) gave up his lucrative career as a structural engineer and attempted to rob a bank with the full intention of getting caught. He was consequently imprisoned at the Fox River State Penitentiary, which he had coincidentally designed; and in attempting to break his older brother, Lincoln (Dominic Purcell), out before the latter's scheduled execution, Michael ended up orchestrating the biggest prison escape in television history.

Four seasons and a couple more imprisonments later, Michael met his end while trying to break his beloved wife, Sara Tancredi-Scofield (Sarah Wayne Callies), out of prison, only to be resurrected again in the upcoming nine-episode limited run revival of FOX's action-thriller series "Prison Break: Resurrection."

Three weeks before its scheduled return date, the network has released a 30-minute special that aims to take viewers, old and new, behind-the-scenes of the highly anticipated series.

In this featurette, Miller revealed that the idea for "Resurrection" was first triggered by talks he had with co-star Purcell, while the two of them were working together as anti-heroes Captain Cold and Heat Wave on The CW's DC-based series, "The Flash."

"Out of that conversation came this idea that there might be more to the story," the actor shared.

Series creator Paul Scheuring also promised that the upcoming run will be the show's biggest, most ambitious yet, and will introduce newer aspects of old characters in a massive international story that will span the entire world. Co-executive producer Vaun Wilmott further revealed that the season will have "an epic mythological scope."

Co-executive producer Michael Horowitz remarked about Scheuring's diligence and passion about bringing the series together in an action-packed run that captures "the intensity and the adrenaline of the first season."

Breaking out of prison is only the beginning of the story. The biggest challenge for Lincoln and Michael will be to break out of the country alive with help from some of the more familiar characters from the earlier seasons including Fernando Sucre (Amaury Nolasco), Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin (Rockmond Dunbar) and fan-favorite anti-hero, Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell (Robert Knepper).

"Prison Break: Resurrection" premieres on Tuesday, April 4 at 9 p.m. EDT on FOX.
