'Prison Break' Season 5 Episode 2: Michael and Whip Escape From Ogygia
Michael (Wentworth Miller) and his cell mate Whip (Augustus Prew) will carry out their plan to escape from prison in the upcoming episode of "Prison Break" season 5. Episode 2 will also follow Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) and C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar) as they search for the "Sheik of Light."
Titled "Kaniel Outis," the upcoming episode will see the characters finding a way to get back to each other. In the premiere episode that aired last week, viewers learned that Michael was alive and was behind bars for seven years in Ogygia. After years of assuming that he was dead, Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) was shocked to see him reappear and started to dig deeper into how he was able to come out alive.
The synopsis for the second episode reads, "As Lincoln and C-Note search for the 'Sheik of Light,' Michael and his cell mate, Whip, attempt an escape from Ogygia. Meanwhile, Sara's investigation into Michael's reappearance leads her to the state department and an uneasy reunion with Paul Kellerman (Paul Adelstein)."
Recently, show creator Paul T. Scheuring said in an interview with Collider that the show couldn't have gone on without Michael.
"We were not making the show without Michael, and Michael apparently died, at the end of season 4, so we had to answer the question of, how did he die?"
He said they had to give Michael an emotional journey that draws inspiration from "The Odyssey," where a man comes back from the dead, shows up in a mysterious place and comes home to claim his wife and child.
"I was like, 'If we can tell 'The Odyssey,' that would be cool.' You'll see all the players from 'The Odyssey,' like Cyclops and Poseidon and Penelope," he said.
The promo may not give an individual look at the upcoming episode, but it teases that more action is coming to the series as the story reaches its peak.
"Prison Break" season 5 episode 2 airs on Tuesday, April 11 at 9 p.m. EDT on FOX.
