Prometheus 2 Will Reportedly Start Production in Early 2016

Ridley Scott is back to directing science fiction films and his upcoming project, which is the sequel to "Prometheus," is reported to start filming in January 2016 according to a report in IGN. The upcoming film, which Scott recently revealed to be titled as "Alien: Paradise Lost," will be set after the events of Prometheus, which is called a "spiritual prequel" of the 1979 film "Alien."

According to a post on Scified, Scott said during an interview with news.au.com that they may start filming in Australia in January 2016, indicating how much he is doing in preparation for production. He said, "As we speak I'm literally drawing: I'm doing storyboards for the film in January. I'm one of those people who can multitask — I'm drawing the bridge of the next spaceship. I do the sketches and then I bring in the chaps to make it. It almost becomes industrial design, which these things ought to be because you need that strong sense of reality (on set). When you do these films that are so big, the manner of designing them is enormous."

Scott has been dropping hints about the movie's plot in various venues. One such hint, according to another post on Scified, is that Elizabeth Shaw and the android David will find themselves going to the home world of the Engineer. As they explore the world in search for answers to the greatest mysteries of mankind, they also discover a truth that can lead to the destruction of humankind.

Another hint is that the sequel will be showing some connections with the original "Alien" heroine Ellen Ripley (previously played by Sigourney Weaver) but Scott was quite vague about what these connections are.

"Alien: Paradise Lost" is also reportedly going to impact when production for "Alien 5" will be starting. Given Scott's involvement in "Paradise Lost," which he is directing and producing, he may end up prioritizing this project over "Alien 5," where he is a producer.
