Prometheus 2 Paradise Release Date, Latest News: March 2016 Launch to Answer Questions in 'Aliens' Franchise
The 2012 prequel to the popular 1979 science fiction horror film "Alien" will be getting a sequel on March 4, 2016 and will be titled "Prometheus: Paradise." The "Aliens" sequel "Prometheus" left out a lot of open-ended questions that director Ridley Scott wanted to answer via a sequel.
Filming of the sequel began only recently this year and then only last month, Scott was announced to have been instead working on the adaptation of "The Martian" set for an earlier 2015 release date.
"Prometheus: Paradise" will be the fifth installment in the "Alien" franchise and will continue from where the first film left off – with Elizabeth Shaw taking the alien ship in order to know more about humanity's creators.
With so many questions left unanswered in the first film, it would only be natural that the sequel try to answer those questions. Scott however, thinks otherwise and instead wants "Prometheus: Paradise" to answer some questions left from the first film while being a standalone title – not a sequel.
Since Prometheus is a prequel film to the 1970s sci-fi horror file, another full film might be needed just to bridge the gap between "Prometheus" and "Aliens."
The first "Prometheus" film was set in the 21st century and revolves around the crew of the ship "Prometheus" where they follow a star map leading to a distant world.
From there the crew quickly discover that they have encountered a threat which could cause the extinction of the human race.
