'Rocket League' DLC Release Features Crazy Maps: Psyonix Adding 'Crazy' Maps Soon
There's a lot to look forward to with the "Rocket League" game in the coming month as a new DLC is reported to arrive later this month. The DLC will bring a variety of free and premium content. Aside from expected details from the release like additional cars and new decals, wheels and paint jobs, the most highlighted one is the variety of "crazy" maps that will be coming soon in the game.
Dave Hagewood, president of "Rocket League" developer Psyonix, told PC Gamer in an interview that they plan to introduce diverse fields with different shapes in the game as free DLC in the future. The action-filled car game currently contain repetitive tracks that share a rectangular shape, to which Hagewood explained:
"We wanted to start with the standard fields this time because we wanted to make sure everyone understood what the base game was, how we see the standard Rocket League experience being. We also wanted to promote competitive play in the game, and people who want extremely balanced competitive play and ranked modes and things like that, without adding a lot of extra noise," he explained.
He also continued on to say that they are aware that majority of the players aren't super competitive and most of them only wants to have a good time. They know that with "crazy" different maps in the game, players are bound to have a great time so they are in the process of working on it already and will roll out later on.
When asked about the possible date of release for new maps, Hagewood answered that it's too early to say when these crazy maps will make their way to the game. But he reassured that Psyonix is working on it.
"Rocket League" is due to receive update 1.04 this month, which will add ranked 3v3 matches, the Utopia Coliseum map, Spectator Mode, and more.
