'Quantico' Season 2 Spoilers, News: Alex's 10 Years in Mumbai Might Be Tackled in Season 2
The second half of "Quantico" season 1 is still far from today, and fans are wondering what else the show can bring once it comes back. It appears that the mystery of New York City bombings is still the center for the remainder of the first season, and according to one of the show's writers, season 2 might tackle Alex's (Priyanka Chopra) 10 years in Mumbai, India.
Sharbari Z. Ahmed, the author of "The Ocean of Mrs. Nagai," and also one of "Quantico's" screenwriters, recently spoke with NBC News and shared her experience working on the show. The Bangladeshi-American female writer said that she didn't think she'll be picked as one of the writers on the show since she felt that there are more "overachievers" than her. "I almost flunked high school for cutting classes and hanging out with boys," Ahmed said. "So, I never expected to become a writer for the mighty ABC," she shared. She later got a call from Jake Coburn, the show's executive producer, and even talked to the "Quantico" creator, Josh Safran. After that, she joined the others in the writer's room.
When asked about Priyanka Chopra's ethnicity and writing "cliché" about it, Ahmed said that it was not "Quantico's" focus at the time. However, every viewer knows that Alex moved to Mumbai from the United States for 10 years, and it was not really explained in depth during this season. "That's probably something for season two," Ahmed teased. "If that happens then I'm going to have to draw on my background, but so far they haven't utilized my "South Asian-ness" very much," she added. Fans can't wait to see more of Alex and her background in the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, the show's lead star is rumored to be in the early talks in joining Dwayne Johnson's upcoming film, "Baywatch." According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chopra will be the movie's villain, and schedules are being worked out. "Quantico" fans are excited to see Chopra in a Hollywood film, if everything works out.
"Quantico" season 1B will be back this March 6, Sunday, on ABC.
