Rachel McAdams confirmed to join 'Doctor Strange' cast, role details not unveiled yet

One thing is sure about Marvel—they're not planning on stepping on the brakes in bringing comic book superhero stories to life. From "Captain America" to "Avengers," the Marvel Cinematic Universe is jam-packed and it's quite impressive. Joining the pending list of movies to be released is none other than "Doctor Strange," which will star Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange. But the latest update of the film talks about Rachel McAdam's casting.

According to Comic Book Resources, the "About Time" actress spoke with The Wrap at the Toronto International Film Festival to talk about her upcoming movie, "Spotlight." During the interview, she confirmed that she will be playing a role in Marvel's upcoming "Doctor Strange" movie. When asked what will be next for her, she unswervingly answered:

"I'm gonna go do 'Doctor Strange' [for] Marvel, kind of a psychedelic Marvel comic, yeah, with Benedict Cumberbatch. I'm really looking forward to that."

Her announcement has made lots of fans excited but just as any developing movie, some details will have to be kept under wraps until a certain period of time. The "True Detective" actress was asked who she will be in the movie but she did not divulge the details, joking that Marvel might come after her if she gave away more information.

Her top secret role has made some fans speculate. According to Vanity Fair, the most possible character for McAdams to play is Clea, a magically gifted woman and Strange's love interest. Other guesses include Night Nurse, Doctor Strange's love interest from his 2006 limited series "The Oath," and Morgana Blessing, a character which debuted in 1981 as a long-time lover of Strange. Other stars that have already been revealed as part of the cast include Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Mads Mikkelsen has also been rumored to be casted.

Marvel's "Doctor Strange" is slated to be released in the U.S. on November 4, 2016.
