'Rainbow Six Siege' 2.1.0 Update Features: Patch Includes New Map, Operators

The first big Year 2 update for Tom Clancy's "Rainbow Six Siege" has arrived. Gamers were excited for patch 2.1.0, as it brought changes and introduced new content to the first-person tactical shooter video game developed by Ubisoft.

According to GameSpot, major additions to the game include a new map called Coastline as well as two new Spanish operators. The map comes free of charge for all players, but the operators are only accessible for Year 2 season pass owners. Ubisoft promises, though, that they will soon be available for purchase using in-game or real-world money. The new operators, Jackal and Mira, will reportedly work as a usual Attacker-Defender team-up.

Jackal is the one who tracks down the enemies and attacks. He can easily see the opponent's footprints, thanks to the device mounted on his head. Mira, on the other hand, defends the base. She can mount one-way, bulletproof window in regular and reinforced walls, making it easy for the team to spot approaching battalions without revealing its position. When it is time to attack, the window can be adjusted to create a gap for bullets to pass through.

Meanwhile, the Velvet Shell update also introduces new skins for the gamer's weapons – Chupinazo, El Dorado, Leon Furioso and Crossfader. All of them are described as designs inspired by the colorful shores of Spain, where the new operators are from. A new Elite set for Rook is also available. This includes an Operator card and title, a signature victory animation, charms and a set of uniform and headgear. The main menu has also been overhauled.

With regards to gameplay bug fixes, the issue with the muzzle flash of weapons with Suppressor, Heavy Barrel, or Muzzle brake has already been fixed. The terrorists who remain idle during game mode have also been addressed.

Meanwhile, the game developer recently answered the players' complaints regarding connectivity. In a thread posted via the game's official forum, Ubisoft announced that they are fixing the said issue.

"In an effort to provide our players with the best possible online experience, we have run a new script to better handle the increased load during peak times. As a result, some players may see the following error when logging in: 'Cannot connect to Ubisoft Servers.' We want to thank you for your patience as we work to better manage the unprecedented number of players attempting to play!" the thread reads.
