'Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Blood Orchid' Release Date News: Ubisoft Announces August Arrival

"Rainbow Six Siege" is getting a new major update titled Operation Blood Orchid, and Ubisoft has announced that it will drop later this month.

Fans have a lot to look forward to with Ubisoft's next big update for "Rainbow Six Siege." The upcoming Operation Blood Orchid will consist of a new map that is set in Hong Kong. Other than that, fans will also have three new operators--two from Hong Kong and one from Poland.

Operation Blood Orchid will be the game's second Year 2 update. Ubisoft has been busy working on new content for "Rainbow Six Siege" for a while now, and it is all going to pay off soon.

When the update arrives, fans can access the map for free, but they will need in-game currency in order to purchase the operators. Season pass holders, however, will be able to get all three operations free of charge when the update lands. Those who did not purchase the season pass will have the operators made available on Sept. 5.

Not much else is known about Operation Blood Orchid, though Ubisoft is expected to unveil more information during the Pro League finals taking place on Aug. 26. The studio is also poised to debut a live demo of the new Hong Kong map.

As for Operation Health, it is slowly nearing an end and Ubisoft has addressed many of the game's issues. For those who are unaware, Operation Health is a three-part plan that Ubisoft launched with an aim to improve "Rainbow Six Siege." There are three main categories involved: technological improvements, a new deployment process and bug fix sprints.

The latest update 2.2.2 patch was rolled out recently, and Ubisoft has released the patch notes. In a post, Ubisoft revealed that the patch includes new dedicated servers for custom matches, terrorist hunt matches, in-game voice chat with Vivox integration, among other things.

"Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Blood Orchid" will be released on Aug. 29 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
