'Rainy Cocoa Series: Ame-con!!' Episode 2 Spoilers: Can a Shop Dog Help Improve Waikiki Rainy Color's Popularity?
Despite a huge initial rush of customers, the newly opened Waikiki branch of the café Rainy Color is now having a hard time keeping up with the competition. Will their plan of promoting their name with a shop dog work on the next episode of the short-form Japanese anime series, "Ame-iro Cocoa Series: Ame-con!! (Rainy Cocoa Series: Ame-con!!)"?
The fourth season opened up with a telephone conversation between Nozomu at the Waikiki Rainy Color and Shion from the Japanese branch of the said café. Nozomu shared that although things were doing well on their side, he could not help but miss having Shark and Shine around.
There was also the matter of the slowly dwindling number of their customers as compared to the big rush they got on their opening day. And since there happens to be a lot of other café shops in Hawaii, it was suggested that Waikiki Rainy Color should come up with something to distinguish it from its competitors.
But as it turned out, Amami has already thought of a way to promote their café as a specifically Japanese brand with the help of a Shiba Inu named Nana. Nozomu has yet to meet the said shop dog, but he has already heard that their furry new companion has very "tsundere" tendencies.
According to Tofugu, the expression "tsundere" combines the Japanese onomatopoeia "tsun tsun" and the descriptive term "dere dere."
"Tsun tsun" refers to the sound of a person sticking his or her nose up in the air in a snobbish way, while "dere dere" refers to someone who is warmly affectionate.
On the other hand, "tsundere" is used to describe the kind of character that tends to have a rather cold personality that eventually warms up as the series progresses.
How much of a tsundere will Nana turn out to be and how will her arrival help boost the sales and reputation of the Waikiki Rainy Color?
"Rainy Cocoa Series Ame-con!!" airs on Wednesdays at 10:25 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX and on Saturdays at 10:25 p.m JST on Sun TV. Episodes will also be simulcast in regions outside Japan via Crunchyroll.
