There were reportedly four other men in the vehicle with the rapper when they were pulled over near the Alabama state border.

According to TMZ, officers discovered $70,000 in the Cadillac Escalade.

"It was a lot of marijuana," Temple Police spokeswoman Dana Rampy told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, although she could not disclose the exact amount.

She added, "All of the individuals were very cooperative."

Rampy has denied reports that $70,000 had been discovered in the vehicle. "I don't know where they got that," she told Billboard.com.

It was not immediately known who the other men in the Escalade were with Soulja Boy.

As news of his arrest unfolded Tuesday, fans took to Twitter to offer their reaction, prompting the rapper's name to appear on Twitter's Trend list.

K.Wine wrote, "Smh RT @lionofbedstuy: Soulja Boy continues the GA rapper tradition and has been arrested on drug and gun charges."

"Hop up out the beeeeeeedddd get arrested! 'Cause I don't know how to stay away from drugs. Good job soulja boy," wrote Austin D. Harler, apparently using one of the rapper's lyrics in his commentary.

Surf-Daddy tweeted, "Sooo since when did soulja Boy turn gangsta ... Smh ... I dont get how u get lock up after u made it big #Backwardslife i guess."

Soulja Boy and his four companions are scheduled to appear before a judge sometime today. The Temple Police Department expects the men to be released after bond is set and posted, according to MTV News.
