Raw Thrills Confirms Four-Player 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Arcade Game Is on the Way
A new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" arcade game is on its way. Earlier this week, arcade game maker Raw Thrills confirmed that a new four-player arcade game based on the popular "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (TMNT) franchise is currently in development.
The game maker revealed that although the upcoming game appears to be inspired by classic arcade experiences, its theme is actually derived from the Nickelodeon series, which is currently in its fifth season. In fact, it will even feature the voices of some of the TV series' main cast members.
"This new version of "TMNT" is a completely new re-imagining of the brawler concept. There are more moves, more environmental interaction, cool Turtle Power special attacks, voiceover from the entire cast (including Seth Green and others)... it's really amazing," said Raw Thrills in a statement.
Raw Thrills also announced that it would implement new gameplay features in the upcoming game that players did not see in the old "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" beat-'em-up games, including expanded move sets, additional environmental interactions, and improved special attacks. The beat-'em-up games were introduced by Konami in 1989 and were based on the original "Ninja Turtles" cartoon, which started airing thirty years ago.
According to the game maker, the new game will also feature upgraded cabinets, with built-in HD screens measuring nine feet tall and four and a half feet wide. It is highly likely that Raw Thrills will launch this cabinet next month at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo, but fans should wait for Raw Thrills' announcement as to when it will start distributing this new cabinet to the general public after the debut.
Since Raw Thrills is known to focus on arcade revivals, fans should not expect the new game to be released either digitally or on modern-day consoles. The game developer has yet to announce when the new arcade game will be out on the market.
