'Ray Donovan' Season 6 Spoilers, Air Date: Suicide Attempt to Psychologically Scar Ray
Season 5 of "Ray Donovan" ended with the titular character jumping off a building. However, fans can rest assured knowing he will make it out alive.
This much is known about Ray's (Liev Schreiber) fate since the series has already been renewed for a sixth season. However, that does not mean that Ray will not have some scars when he makes the move to New York. His suicide attempt will, of course, have some consequences.
"For us it becomes about what the damage is psychologically, emotionally, environmentally. The big questions I'm grappling with are not just the physical elements of it," executive producer David Hollander told TVLine.
As previously reported, the upcoming sixth season of the Showtime series will be seeing a change of setting. However, some of the main characters will not immediately move to New York with Ray. Mickey (Jon Voight), for one, is unable to do that because he is now incarcerated.
"Next season we'll be picking up very close to where we left off," the showrunner noted.
And, as Hollander revealed to Entertainment Weekly, Mickey may not stay behind bars for long. He has always been street-smart, and that will not change in season 6.
"I think Mickey of course will have as many tricks up his sleeve as he can to try and change his situation," he said.
With season 6 heading to New York, fans need not worry about other characters who are staying in California. The show is not about to cut them all loose. As Hollander previewed, the next season will continue the story from two different places, but there is hope to ultimately move them all into one city.
"It will initially start kind of a bi-coastal way and whatever organically we can do to bring people in the direction of Ray, we'll bring them," he said. "Otherwise, we'll address them wherever they fall, wherever they fall."
"Ray Donovan" season 6 will commence production in early 2018.
