Real Housewives of Atlanta News: NeNe Leakes Damaged By 'RHOA'

NeNe Leakes is starring in Cinderella on Broadway and revealing why the job is much more fulfilling than "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" Bravo television reality television series that made her famous.

Leakes, 46, is the only original cast member left on the Bravo network series. The actress has also made a name for herself on scripted television series like "Glee" and "New Normal," but now she is working in theater. While Leakes makes it clear that starring in Broadway's "Cinderella" is a dream come true, she compared it to her reality television stint.

"…Working on 'Housewives' can be very negative at times. I think that's the way (the producers) position the show," Leakes told NBC NY. "Every season they want someone to come for me. It's tough."

However, Leakes said Broadway is completely different arena.

"Broadway is more about the work and the art. It's being creative," she told NBC. "Everyone wants to go out there and deliver and put on a good show. It's very positive."

Leakes has decided to appear on "Real Housewives of Atlanta" for its seventh season, after calling the show's sixth season dark and toxic.

"This past season was very dark and toxic; there was a lot of negativity," Leakes previously told Life & Style magazine. "I just don't want to work with so much negativity."

She recently admitted that the show changed her.

"…The show has definitely damaged me to the point where I don't want to make friends with new people. People who I open up, later on they turn on me once they get a raise on the show," she told NBC. "I always think to myself, 'God, these people will work for a $1.50 to do ANYTHING.' I just can't do it."
