'Real Housewives of Atlanta' News: Singer Monica Will Never Join the Cast for the Sake of Her Kids

"Real Housewives of Atlanta" has always tried to put together a cast from various backgrounds to mixed results. While most would be happy to be part of the reality show, for the singer Monica, it's just the complete opposite.

In one of the episodes of the Bravo TV reality show, producer Andy Cohen brought up the possibility of inviting Monica to become one of the housewives, as BET recaps.

She will only join the cast if she will be involved in a show that will teach her kids something positive, according to People, "I would only join a show that I could also be executive producer of because what my children see me do is important to me," she explained.

She added that she wants to be able to see episodes before they go on air, and have full control of what she does in it. If "Real Housewives of Atlanta" does not really fit that description, then she would prefer a show where she can "help girls like myself or people from the communities that are similar to the world that I'm from."

The singer is on tour with Xscape this winter, and already, Monica is thinking of how she can plan her schedule so that she can get back to her kids sooner.

"Me being away from my children too long is non-negotiable," she explained. "Me being away from my children too long is non-negotiable," the 36-year old mother of three added.

Such is her devotion to family time that she will fly back home to Atlanta every time her show ends, just to be with her kids Laiyah, Romelo, and Rocko. Sometimes, she just goes ahead and gets her mom to fly the kids to her tour instead.

"So if it means that on Fridays when school lets out my mom flies [my kids] into where we are and they catch three shows and fly back, then that's what we'll do," the singer explained.
