'Real Housewives of New York' Season 6: Ramona Singer Insists Mario Divorce Drama Occurred 'After' Filming
"Real Housewives of New York" star Ramona Singer recently denied claims suggesting she delayed divorcing her husband Mario to keep her marital woes off of the show.
In January, fans were stunned after learning that Singer, 56, had filed for divorce from her husband of 25 years in the wake of cheating reports. Insiders claim the mother of one waited until after filming for season 6 wrapped up to file divorce papers, but she maintains this is not true.
"I know that you've had some issues at home and you are dealing with that publicly, is that all on the show?" talk show host Bethenny Frankel asked Singer on "Bethenny" in an episode airing March 11.
"Well, you'll see Mario and I together," Singer said before elaborating.
"Right now I am going through some adversity but through adversity you become stronger and you know what I have me, myself and I," she continued. "None of this happened until after the show. My situation with my husband didn't happen until just a couple of weeks ago."
The Manhattan based socialite reportedly "threw a fit and called the cops" in January after finding her estranged husband at their Southampton home with socialite Kasey Dexter. The Singers reportedly agreed that Ramona would reside in their Manhattan home and that Mario would move into their Southampton house in the wake of their separation which reportedly occurred last year, The New York Post's Page Six reported.
While viewers were hoping that Singer's divorce drama would be played out on the hit reality TV show, she confirmed that this is not the case. The Manhattan socialite maintains that the breakdown of their marriage occurred this year however sources claim she has known about Mario's alleged infidelity for some time.
"It was only after completing filming of RHONY. Ramona knew for months that Mario had been cheating on her ... she only chose to confront him and Kasey at their Hamptons home after the cameras had long disappeared," a source told RadarOnline.com.
"It was a very calculated decision on Ramona's part … Ramona didn't want her divorce drama to become a storyline on the show," the insider revealed.
In October, Ramona publicly denied reports claiming Mario had been unfaithful. Insiders claimed the father of one impregnated another woman, but the reality star insisted these reports are false.
She appears to be open to the possibility of a reconciliation.
"No, really I don't know where anything is going," she said. "I know my husband loves me, he knows that I love him and we will see what happens."
