'Red Dead Redemption 2' rumors: Game to arrive in 2016, protagonist will be replaced?

When the "Red Dead Redemption" arrived in 2010, it became an instant hit among gamers. And now, five years after, it looks like developers from Rockstar Games are cooking up a part two of the western action-adventure video game. According to KpopStarz, "Red Dead Redemption 2" is implied to happen and it might even arrive earlier than expected.

Speculations started when fans opened up the topic in an old "GTA Online Heist" post in the official blog of Rockstar Games. They were asking about getting a "Red Dead" sequel and the people behind the game were more than eager to answer their queries.

"It's wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the Red Dead series," claims the blog post. "As we've mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as 'Red Dead Redemption,' 'Bully' and 'L.A. Noire,' we don't always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won't get to them eventually."

Based on this, there's really no telling when the sequel might come to life. But in a report by Venture Capital Post, it says that Take-Two Interactive has officially confirmed that an AAA project will be introduced in 2016 and all fingers point to the long-awaited "Red Dead Redemption" sequel. Rumors and leaks also surfaced all over the web including the ones from a Reddit user named AnonDN1978, reports Crossmap. He said that the game had been in development for more than three years already and will be called as "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West."

Other rumors also said that the protagonist, John Marston, will no longer be returning the game. Instead, he will be replaced by three characters named Irish, Seth and a customizable character just like in GTA 5. However, there is no confirmation to these speculations yet and fans will just have to wait and see.
