Redmi Note Prime Launched in India; Specs Include 5.5-Inch Display, Snapdragon 410 Chipset, 4G Support

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has launched another variant in their Redmi line. After the Redmi 2 Prime, the company has now released the Redmi Note Prime, which is the second product in their line that is made in India in collaboration with Foxconn in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

According to Phone Arena, the Redmi Note Prime is basically the same device as the Redmi Note 4G that was released back in summer of 2014 but is an enhanced version of it, coming with a slight boost in specs. It doesn't come as a surprise anymore though since the first made-in-India smartphone, the Redmi 2 Prime, also arrived with just very little upgrade.

The Indian Express detailed that beginning Dec. 15, interested buyers can now purchase the handset. It will come with a price tag of Rs 8,499 and will be exclusively available on Amazon.in and Mi.com. As for the specs, the Xiaomi Note Prime comes with a larger display compared to the Redmi 2 Prime. Sporting a 5.5-inch touchscreen IPS HD display, the Redmi Note Prime has a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels.

NDTV Gadgets also reported that the device comes with 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. It comes with 2 GB of RAM and is packed with 16 GB of internal storage. It can be expanded further up to 32 GB through the use of a microSD card. In terms of the camera specs, the new device carries a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, as noted in Tech Times. Meanwhile, the front has a 5-megapixel camera perfect for shooting selfies.

It runs with Android 4.4 KitKat-based MIUI 7 and is packed with a 3100mAh non removable battery. It comes with the usual connectivity options like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and FM. The Redmi Note Prime also offers support for 4G and dual-SIM.

GSM Arena detailed that Xiaomi is thrilled to introduce the device to its fans.

"Local manufacturing shows Xiaomi's commitment to being a part of fabric of India and we are truly excited to roll out our second 'Made in India' offering for our Mi fans," said Manu Jain, Xiaomi's India Head.
