Ever since the death of Francis, Mary, played by Adelaide Kane, has been feeling the pressure of marrying again, in order to avoid a war. After trying to make an alliance with Spain by marrying Prince Don Carlos, an accident led to the Prince's death, leaving her with no options once again.
It was revealed that the upcoming episode of "Reign" will deal with the consequences of Don Carlos' death in a way that will not ignite a war among the three countries. However, that is not the only problem that Mary will face in the upcoming return of the series.

In addition, Catherine will continue trying to ruin Mary's reputation by stating that she was the one who killed Francis all along. Catherine will devise a rumor that states how Mary had poisoned Catherine's son, Francis, in order to get her out of the French court.
Meanwhile, fans are making their own theories on what could take place in the upcoming episode of the series. There are speculations that a new character will be joining the cast as Mary's second husband. It was stated that the real Queen Mary had married her cousin Henry. With that, fans believe that the series will soon bring the character to life.
However, these speculations have yet to be confirmed. However, it is certain that the upcoming episode will have Lola and Narcisse involved, since The CW had recently released a teaser featuring both characters.
According to Carter Matt, details of the upcoming episode have been revealed by The CW. It stated, "As Mary (Adelaide Kane) and Catherine (Megan Follows) deal with the aftermath of Prince Don Carlos' (guest star Mark Ghanimé) accident, Mary realizes that she will have to marry for the good of her country and not follow her heart. When Catherine is accused of poisoning Francis (Toby Regbo), Lola (Anna Popplewell) is shocked when Mary thinks Narcisse (Craig Parker) framed Catherine in order to become Regent of France."
"Reign" season 3 is expected to return on The CW this Jan. 22.
