Rep. Cohen's Secret Daughter Revealed After Texting During SOTU
A United States congressman has revealed that the young woman who he was caught texting is his long lost daughter and not a daughter of a close friend, as he had initially explained.
Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) revealed that the woman whom he was spotted texting during the President's State of the Union address is in fact his daughter whom he learned about only a few years ago.
The tweets were first spotted by Politwoops, a site dedicated to rooming the Twittershpere and archiving tweets of public figures. Rumors began to spread shortly after that the woman was his girlfriend.

To quell the rise in misinformation, Cohen, who is a lifelong bachelor, organized a private meeting with a few members of the media where he explained who the woman was in relation to him.
"I Googled her mother, found out she had a child and the math looked pretty accurate," Cohen told reporters during the private meeting, according to a report from NBC after attending the meeting. "The mom told me we had a lot of catching up to do."
The woman, identified as Victoria Brink, sent the congressman a tweet after she noticed him on television at the President's address, to which Cohen replied:
"pleased you are watching. ilu" Cohen tweeted, followed shortly after with "nice to know you were watchin SOTU(state of the union).Happy Valentines beautiful girl. ilu."
The "ilu," shorthand for "I Love You," is what prompted questions regarding the relations of Brink to the congressman. The tweets were deleted only a few minutes after they were posted, but by then they had already been archived.
Cohen detailed that he has already taken his daughter for a visit of the Capital and to a White House Christmas party.
When asked why he was Tweeting during the President's speech, he simply stated that he was excited she contacted him.
"When she let me know she was watching the State of the Union address, I was thrilled that she wanted Steve Cohen to be part of her life. I had such joy, that I couldn't hold back from tweeting her," he told NBC.
