'Resident Evil 6' Photos Show Return of Milla Jovovich and Behind-the-Scenes, Cast Members revealed
If fans thought that "Resident Evil: Retribution" was the last in Paul W.S. Anderson's film franchise, then they obviously had it wrong. The sci-fi action-horror film based on the Capcom video game of the same name is returning to the big screen for the sixth installment titled "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter."
By just looking at the title, fans can already tell that the upcoming live-action movie is going to be the last one in the franchise. This will be the last time they'll see Milla Jovovich reprise her role as the bad-ass zombie hunter Alice. Joining in with her once again is Ali Larter, who will reprise her role as red-maned Claire Redfield.
According to Movie Web, shooting has already started in Cape Town, Africa. Several of the cast members have shared some behind-the-scenes photos in their social media accounts, giving fans a sneak peak of what's to come as well as glimpses of the returning and new cast members who will appear in the sequel. New faces that will be joining Jovovich and Larter include Ruby Rose, Eoin Macken, William Levy and Japanese model Rola. The stars are seen in one of the photos all suited up with boots and leather cover-ups, ready to go shoot some zombies in the apocalyptic wasteland.
Returning cast members from the previous installments include Shawn Roberts, who played Albert Wesker in the 2010 and 2012 movies; Iain Glen, who played as Dr. Isaacs in the 2004 and 2007 films; and Wentworth Miller, who played as Claire's brother, Chris Redfield, and first appeared in 2010's "Resident Evil: Afterlife."
Screen Rant reported that Anderson will conclude the movie series with the plot story returning to its roots. The final chapter will pick up from where the last film ended. Alice will try to stop the Red Queen's plans of getting rid of all the remaining human survivors. She will need to return to the place where the ordeal all commenced—Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gearing up for a final strike against the survivors.
"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" is expected to hit theaters in early 2017.
