'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' is now filming in South Africa

Video game fans can finally watch their favorite game franchise back on the big screen, since "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" is now filming in South Africa. The film brings back an incredible cast lineup, and recently released a few teasers about the plot.

According to Game Spot, Sony Pictures has announced that the final installation of the film will have the characters back in Raccoon City, and teased that "a dead man will be back."

Iain Glen will be back on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and his character, Dr. Sam Isaacs (Tyrant), was last seen in the second and third movie, which are the "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" and "Resident Evil: Extinction," respectively. Fans didn't see this Tyrant in the last two films, "Resident Evil: Afterlife" and "Resident Evil: Retribution," and avid game followers are excited to see this monster back.

Another actor that will be back in the last movie of the series is Shawn Roberts, who played Albert Wesker in the past two films. Ali Larter will also be back as Claire Redfield, who was also left out of the first two movies. Lastly, Milla Jovovich, whose stunt double was badly injured recently, will reprise her role as Alice.

Other additions to the cast include "Orange is the New Black" actress Ruby Rose as Abigail, "The Night Shift's" Eoin Macken as Doc, "Law & Order: UK's" Fraser James as Michael, William Levy as Christian, and the Japanese model Rola as Cobalt.

According to Games Radar, Sony Pictures said that the plot will pick up immediately right after the last movie. "In a race against time, Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action-packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella's impending attack, this will be Alice's most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion," the synopsis said.

The final Resident Evil movie is said to premiere on Jan. 27, 2017.
