'Rick and Morty' Season 3 Spoilers: Theories Abound as Fans Wait for Episode 2

"Rick and Morty" pulled off the perfect April Fool's Day "prank" by launching the premiere of the third season of the hit comedy series, with no previous announcement, or any warning at all for that matter. Fans will have to wait until summer for the rest of the season 3 of the show, however. In the meantime, followers of the series will have to entertain themselves with speculations on what direction the notoriously unpredictable show will take from episode 1.

After a surprise launch on April 1 that has been packed, to say the least, fans are looking for more "Rick and Morty" after what has been a long wait since season 2 of the show ended. The show producers, however, will be taking their time with the next episodes, with the next ones to come this summer as promised on their Twitter post.

The writing of the first episode was already a setup that hinted at what could be coming next over the next episodes of season 3, according to the International Business Times. So far, Rick Sanchez (Justin Roiland) is now free and out of prison. The Galactic Federation has been kicked out from Earth, while the Gromflomites are still hard at work with Tammy (Cassie Steele). Beth Smith (Sarah Chalke) and Jerry Smith (Chris Parnell) are now getting a divorce, after all that has happened so far.

The Birdperson (Dan Harmon), though, is supposed to be dead, but the Gromflomites and Tammy actually succeeded in making him something like a Frankenstein's monster. The new Birdperson, not quite alive but not quite dead either, now calls itself the "Phoenixperson," presumably in reference to having returned from the dead. Of course, Phoenixperson is now utterly loyal to its creator Tammy.

With this crazy setup, a lot of mishaps can only result from this mess. Fans can watch later this summer as "Rick and Morty" returns.
