'Rick and Morty' Season 3 Spoilers: 'Morty's Mind Blowers' Finds Duo Going Through Morty's Unwanted Memories
The upcoming episode of "Rick and Morty" season 3 will see the titular duo going through some of Morty's erased memories.
The teaser trailer for the new episode, titled "Morty's Mind Blowers," opened with Rick and Morty in another one of their adventures. It looked like they were being chased through a labyrinth of stairs by a demonic-looking being. It is clear that they have stolen something, specifically the Truth Tortoise. Rick cautioned Morty not to look into the artifact's eyes, which the latter had already done.
"Now you're gonna know everything, Morty. Good job," Rick said.
The next scene showed Morty with bags under his eyes. It is apparent that he has not been able to get any sleep because he looked into the Truth Tortoise's eyes. With the knowledge of the universe, he told his grandfather that he cannot go on. As a solution, Rick took Morty to his archive, which was presumably also located in the garage or under it.
"This, Morty, is my archive of all the experiences you've begged me to remove from your life," Rick said. "I call them Morty's Mind Blowers."
Rick then broke the fourth wall and informed the viewers that the show would be doing this episode in place of interdimensional cable, which they had already done twice. Based on the format of the interdimensional cable episodes, it looks like fans are going to be treated to a lot of unseen adventures.
Meanwhile, the previous episode, which was titled "The Ricklantis Mixup," executed a bait-and-switch and showed nothing about Atlantis, except for Rick and Morty preparing to go to the lost city at the start of the episode. However, the episode veered away from that adventure and instead showed the politics within the Citadel of Ricks.
The episode was particularly shocking because of the big reveal at the end. One of the Mortys ran for President of the Citadel and won due to his charisma. However, it was ultimately revealed that the new President Morty was actually Evil Morty, first introduced in season 1.
There have been a lot of fan theories about Evil Morty, his motives and his true connection to C-137 Rick. But it looks like those theories will have to take a back seat for now, as the next episode seems to be focusing on something else.
"Rick and Morty" season 3 airs Sundays at 11:30 p.m. EDT on Adult Swim.
