'Rick And Morty' Season 3 Spoilers: Rick Gets A Mission From The US President In Season Finale
The final episode of "Rick and Morty" season 3 will be aired this week, but fans of the animated series are hoping to learn more about the upcoming episode before Adult Swim broadcasts it.
Details about episode 10 titled "The Rickchurian Mortydate" is still under wraps, but the show's co-creator Dan Harmon hinted in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the episode will pit the eccentric scientist Rick Sanchez working for the most powerful man in the US.
"It's Rick in a conflict with the president of the United States. Keith David returns to reprise his role. And that's the main story of that episode, Rick vs. the United States," Harmon stated.
A trailer for the upcoming season 3 finale has been released, where Rick and his teenage grandson Morty were seen taking an order from the US president to eliminate the alien that is causing trouble in the "Kennedy Sex Tunnels" in the White House. Morty was shocked to learn that such place exists, but the president told him that there are other secret places in the White House that are as controversial as the tunnels. However, the trailer did not reveal how the duo will be about to hunt down the alien.
The season 3 finale is slated to air on Adult Swim on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 11:30 p.m. EDT.
Meanwhile, Harmon also explained in the same interview why the third season of "Rick and Morty" was reduced to 10 episodes instead of the promised 14 episodes. According to the series co-creator, his tendency to become a perfectionist should be blamed for the decreased number of episodes.
"I'm still learning how to do the show efficiently while catering to the perfectionist in all of us. I would like to think I've learned enough from my mistakes in season 3 that we could definitely do 14 now, but then I have to say, 'Yeah but you're the guy who says we can do 14 who turned out to be wrong so we're not listening to you now,'" he stated.
However, Harmon mentioned that the mistake could be improved when the series returns for season 4.
