'Rick and Morty' Season 4 Air Date, News: Adult Swim Series Won't Be Back For 'A Really Long Time'

With season 3 of "Rick and Morty" over, fans have a long wait ahead of them until season 4 rolls around. This much was teased by Mr. Poopybutthole himself in the season 3 finale episode's post-credits scene.

The scene featured Mr. Poopybutthole having a meal with his wife and child. He then addressed the release date of season 4, though he did not go into specifics.

"See you for season 4 in, like, a really long time," he said, revealing that he could have "a big white Santa Claus beard and a couple of grandkids" by the time season 4 arrives.

Fans typically have to wait more than a year in between seasons, so it would not come as a surprise if season 4 premieres in late 2018 or even early 2019. However, fans are keeping their fingers crossed for an earlier air date and more episodes.

Co-creator Dan Harmon has teased the possibility of increasing the episode to 14 in season 4. The debut season of "Rick and Morty" consisted of 11 episodes, and the two seasons that followed each had 10.

"The nice healthy way to approach this is I want to prove it with the first 10 of season 4 — prove it to ourselves, to production, to the network — that it's so easy that we'll earn additional episodes," Harmon told Entertainment Weekly in September.

In other news, McDonald's brought back their Szechuan Sauce for one day after it was featured in a season 3 episode of "Rick and Morty." The sauce was first released nine years ago as part of a Disney tie-in to promote 1998's "Mulan."

However, the fast food company received a ton of backlash when the sauce was recently re-released. The limited supply was not able to accommodate the incredibly high demand. As a response, McDonald's announced that the sauce would return at a later date. This time around, there will be enough sauce to go around.

"Szechuan Sauce is coming back once again this winter," a statement posted on their Twitter account reads. "We want to make this right. You're some of the best fans in this, or any, dimension...and we plan to deliver on that promise as soon as possible."
