Rihanna Sounds Off On Instagram Fan Who Questions Her Philanthropic Work
Rihanna is sounding off on a social media spectator who criticized her expensive fashion choices while accusing her of not doing enough for charity.
After the 25-year-old Barbadian singer took to her Instagram to post some gifts that she received from well known designers like Prada, Fendi and Versace, one commenter voiced her disapproval.
"There's people out [there] dying and [you're] taking pics of your good new things ... help and give to people who never own a prada bag at least ... I'm sure [there are] people who would love one rihh ... if you love your fans help too it's all because of us [you're] making your damm money," the person wrote. "What do we get? Nothing."
The outspoken singer did not ignore the comment and defended her decision to showcase the high-priced items on her personal social media picture sharing account.
"My Prada shoes that I spent nothing on can't stop anyone from dying," Rihanna exclaimed. "However, the $100,000 I just sent to the Philippines will! Now eject, reject witcho ratchet (expletive), begging for purses!"
The singer has made headlines for donating $100,000 to UNICEF to aid in relief efforts following Typhoon Haiyan that ravaged the Philippines last month. She spoke about her decision to make the contribution.
"Emergencies make headlines, but the recovery continues long after the news cameras leave," Rihanna said of her donation to PerezHilton.com. "Having been a fan and supporter of UNICEF's work over the years, I am honored to join them in helping children who have been impacted by Typhoon Haiyan. More than five million kids in the Philippines need our help. UNICEF is there for them today, and for the long road ahead, and so am I."
The singer has also gone on to encourage her fans to donate to Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts.
"Millions of children in the #Philippines need our help," Rihanna previously tweeted. "I'm there. NAVY, are you?"
