#RIPHarrysHair Trends Worldwide after Harry Styles Cuts Hair for Charity
Harry Styles cut his hair, bringing woe and despair to thousands of his Internet fans. For almost 250,000 who flocked Instagram to post their feelings on what they felt inconceivable, it was a day to remember, an event which may go down in fandom history. But it was all for a good cause.
The former "One Direction" band member posted a photograph on his Instagram account Friday, showing Styles' holding up a length of plaited hair. It was captioned "Whoops," followed by the hashtag "#Littleprincesstrust." The rest of his social media network accounts, including those on Facebook and Twitter, also featured the image. Tumblr was no exception.
While Directioners became highly emotional over his change of hairstyle, Styles had a perfectly good and even laudable reason for doing so. The singer had his locks chopped off to support a British charity, Little Princess Trust, in their campaign dubbed "#HairToSpare." The charity works with children who have cancer, and their newest crusade aims to provide real-hair wigs for those children who have lost theirs from having undergone cancer treatments.

The Instagram post, to date, has hundreds of thousands of comments, mostly of disbelief and mourning in nature in multiple languages, with a handful "happy" comments by some who support the star's move.
Instagram user @pxlrc demanded pictures; @forever_mikayla used the hashtag "#RIPHarrysHair" to express her feelings.
On Twitter, the post has been re-tweeted over 150,000 times but the same sentiments are echoed. Many said they were on the verge of tears as well as being unprepared for the news.
Twitter account @CheekyHoussein posted a status, "I feel like I've lost a family member right now #RIPHarrysHair." @Khim_Gonzales tweeted, "#RIPHarrysHair in memory @Harry_Styles"; @lauravitt0 and many others believed it to be "an end of an era."
As a result, the hashtag "#RIPHarrysHair" is now trending globally.
Another fan, @dearangelhs, urged others to mark the date on the calendar as "…A day that drastically changed lives…"
Little Princess Trust expressed gratitude over Styles' selfless act with a message on their website, "Big thank you to Harry Styles for supporting our #hairtospare campaign! Thank you for donating your hair to us Harry!"
The message went on to say, "We are grateful to ALL supporters who support the charity. However Harry's global superstar status will help raise the profile of the Trust and will mean that we can help even more children who are experiencing hair loss."
Meantime, the crooner has encouraged fans to support #hairtospare, as seen from a poster on which his image appears in a very recent post from the #1DCharity Team, with the word "WANTED" in all caps and a question, "Do you have #hairtosapare?" Beneath the poster, people are asked, "Care to spare some hair like @Harry_Styles?" The 1D Charity Team raises awareness and funds for charities in honor of 1D.
Sobbing Directioner fans notwithstanding, the move has sparked response as expected. As proof, Twitter account @1d_updates_20 posted a picture of a young fan having her hair cut after being inspired by Styles.
