'Rise of the Tomb Raider' Update: 300 Expedition Cards Included, Season Pass Available
A lot of video games are still to come but one particular game that several are waiting for is the action-adventure "Rise of the Tomb Raider." Luckily, the game developed by Crystal Dynamics is set to arrive next month already and fans are treated with the game's details so they know what to expect when it arrives.
According to IGN, the team behind the game, including publisher Microsoft Studios, has revealed that the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" video game will have microtransactions. In an interview with Xbox Wire, Creative Director Noah Hughes said that the microtransaction will include 300 Expedition Cards which can be purchased with real world money.
Through these Expedition Cards, players will be able to see a variety of effects on games outside the single player mode, as reported by Twinfinite. It will have two kinds and they are called as Foil and Common. The former is set to have "the strongest or strangest variations" and can be utilized frequently, while the latter can only be utilized once which will entail the player to buy them again in order to make use of the effect once again.
An example of an effect in the game includes the comical and time-tested "Big Head Mode," which can either increase the challenge or offer the player special advantages. This can also be purchased with the use of in-game credits but for those who want a quicker way, the option to go is to buy them with real cash. To earn credits, the player must complete challenge and explore the world.
True Achievements noted that players with the Expedition Cards will be able to create their own challenges and invite their friends to try and beat them. This can all be possible even if they have not unlocked yet the same cards.
Moreover, Crystal Dynamics has also released a statement that a season pass will be available for "Rise of the Tomb Raider." The source mentioned that it will comprise of three major pieces of additional content which are "Endurance Mode," "Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch," and 'Cold Darkness Awakened." These additional contents prolongs the life of the game's single-player campaign.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider" will be released on Xbox 360 and Xbox One on Nov. 10.
