The video game franchise was first relaunched in 2013 and featured the main character, Lara Croft, and her past. The first game in the relaunched "Tomb Raider" franchise also showed how Lara developed her survival skills after being stuck on an island.

This year's game is a follow-up to that storyline. In "Rise of the Tomb Raider", one of the places Lara travels to is Syria as she believes she will find her way to an immortal Prophet's Tomb. In her journey, she is tailed by a shadow organization that is trying to attack her. They set traps which Lara needs to avoid while using her skills to simply survive.

To make the experience of playing the game a more personal one, developers have introduced a skill tree deep-seated enough that players can't unlock it all at once. A player can use the skill tree to customize Lara's character to his/her advantage. They will be able to decide what skills and traits they want Lara to have. According to Ecumenical News, players will also be able to make Lara climb trees, swim underwater and perform silent kills. This is known as "guerilla-combat" style and enables the character to be more mobile. Items found all throughout the game may also be used to create tools and weapons that will help Lara in her quest. For example, players can pick up mushrooms to create poisonous arrows. They may also use other resources like cloth and wood to make bows.

The Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will hit shelves on Nov. 10, 2015. PC users will have to wait until early 2016 to get the PC version of the game while PS4 players may have to wait until late 2016 for the PS4 version. This game was published by Microsoft Studios and Square Enix.
