'Risk of Rain' Heads Over to PS4 and PS Vita; Includes Automatic Matchmaking, Cross-Play and Cross-Buy
Platform video game "Risk of Rain" can now be played via consoles. According to a report by Eurogamer, the game will be heading over to PlayStation 4 and Vita soon. The game started off as an indie PC game back in 2013, but this 2016, console gamers can now join in the fun of "Risk of Rain" developed by a two-student team from the University of Washington under the name of Hopoo Games.
Duncan Drummond, co-founder of Hopoo Games LLC, made an announcement via the PlayStation Blog wherein he wrote that their company and Code Mystics have teamed up to send "Risk of Rain" to PS4 and PS Vita. He also detailed the features that will be coming along with the console version of the game since it will be bringing in new stuff that are not found in the PC version.
As noted, the new version of the game will now have an automatic matchmaking. This is brought by the effort of PlayStation Network that made the easy and quick way of playing the game possible. With just one click of a button, gamers will be instantly placed into a lobby with up to three other players around the world. It will not need an IP address or port forwarding.
Another feature that Hopoo Games incorporated is the ability to play online lobbies while sharing a machine with a friend. The game will allow up to two per machine. Gamers can also invite friends into their lobby through PSN so that they can get all their game buddies into one lobby.
Hopoo Games also made sure that "Risk of Rain" will support cross-platform playing. This means that gamers can play the game together regardless if they are using PS Vita or PS4. Aside from that, the game also has an additional perk for the console version, which is the Cross-Buy option. Tech Times detailed that once the gamer purchases the title for Vita, it will come along with the PS4 version for free and it works vice versa.
