'Riverdale' Season 2 Spoilers: Betty Keeps New Information From Jughead; Veronica Worries About Archie

The upcoming episode of "Riverdale" season 2 will see relationships in jeopardy and dangerous encounters taking place.

The synopsis of the next episode, titled "The Town That Dreaded Sundown," states that Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) will grow further apart due to some information the former will choose to keep from the latter. It seems that Betty is at the center of the terror enveloping Riverdale, and she will not tell Jughead about it.

Veronica (Camila Mendes), on the other hand, will be worried about Archie (KJ Apa) and the extreme lengths he would go to in order to take down the mysterious shooter. Archie will still be on his path of revenge, but things will not go as planned. This will cause Mayor McCoy (guest star Robin Givens) to arrange for an emergency town hall meeting to handle the situation.

That said, it seems everyone will have to put their worries on pause, as the synopsis also teases tensions between the North and Southside coming to a head.

A teaser trailer for the new episode has also been released. It opens with Hiram (Mark Consuelos) pointing out that Riverdale is going through "so much chaos and confusion." Betty receives a letter from the Black Hood, and she is stunned to find out that "he is doing it for [her]." Archie and his fellow jocks will also confront a group of other guys, perhaps from the Southside.

Jughead and Toni (Vanessa Morgan) become closer. He is also seen confronting Betty about the letter she got from the Black Hood. Meanwhile, Veronica discovers Archie's gun and looks understandably worried, especially after Archie reveals that he wants to be the last thing the Black Hood sees before he dies.

At school, the sheriff pulls out a black mask from the locker of an unseen student. The final scene shows Archie holding his gun out and getting ready to shoot.

"Riverdale" season 2 airs Wednesdays, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
