Manchester United Transfer News 2014: Roberto Mancini Looking to Sign Robin van Persie From United After Contract Ends
Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini is preparing to try and sign Robin van Persie once more. Mancini had lost the deal for van Persie to Manchester United back in 2012 and is interested once more to sign a deal for him. However, if Mancini wants to make a move on the striker he will have to wait until the season ends since van Persie only has one year remaining on his contract with Man U.
The only thing standing in the way of Mancini is a £2.5 million loyalty bonus for van Persie if he chooses to stay with Manchester United.
Van Persie will be turning 32 years old soon and has been plagued by with injuries over the course of his career. He only managed to handle the ball some 13 times at United's victory over Chelsea.
During Machester United's championship title run, van Persie had managed to score 26 goals in the Premier League. Last season, he was able to score 12.
For their failure over van Persie's acquisition, Mancini had blamed Manchester City since they missed out on the league title, which cost his job at Eastlands on 2013.
Over the course of past years, van Persie's performance is on a slow and steady decline and he would likely to fit well with Italy's Serie A team.
