Robin Thicke's Lawyer Speaks Out Against False Marriage Claims

Robin Thicke may be upset enough to sue those spreading new rumors concerning his marriage to actress Paula Patton.

Thicke, the 37-year-old singer, and Patton, the 38-year-old actress announced their split earlier this year after 8 years of marriage and more than 20 years together. After numerous blog reports suggested that an affair with a masseuse was the cause for the separation, Thicke's lawyer is firing back at the claims.

Howard E. King, Thicke's lawyer, told theybf.com that the claims were far from the truth.

"On behalf of Mr. Thicke, as well as [the alleged masseuse], we categorically deny every assertion of fact posited in your email [asking for comment] and are certain there can be no reliable, trustworthy source of any such story, given its gross deviation from the truth," King told the blog. "Any purported source of such a story is lying."

The lawyer took things one step further and insinuated that any publications spreading false stories about Thicke and Patton's marriage could be in legal trouble.

"Publication of this blatantly false story absent a failure to fully investigate the truth combined with reliance on what has to be a flimsy source, will support a finding that the story is published in wanton and reckless disregard of the truth, leading to a finding of malice and the imposition of actual and punitive damages," King told theybf.com.

The previous announcement of the pair's split insisted that the couple would remain friends despite their separation.

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the joint statement reads, according to People magazine.

The singer previously took to his personal website to thank his fans for supporting him during the turbulent times.

"I want to thank everyone for the well wishes these last few days," Thicke wrote. "My fans mean everything to me. I'm looking forward to getting back on out on the road and performing in Washington DC this Thursday, and the rest of the tour. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!"
